I have to say, I'm feeling quite depressed about it too. But I have to be strong and tell her it's okay. It's tough being a husband sometimes...

Hang in there! I was in the same situation as you, it eventually all worked out even better than we had hoped. Just keep saving and stockpile stuff you'll need.
Have an Acura to cheer you up

Financing requirements can be a little over the top right now. You are far from alone.

Thanks man. I appreciate it.
And Kinetic Blue Pearle is by far one of the best Acura colors. Definitely the best for the TL-S.

Yeah, my wife and I are depressed about the same thing. Especially as our rent continues to climb for the house we just want to buy. Being a husband is definitely a burden.

In the same situation kinda, with my fiance. She in Mexico DF and hasn't really left that area her whole life. She is moving with me to Houston TX in March. I wanted to have a nice house ready to purchase a couple times but FUCK, shit just keeps coming up. Plus, the wedding and mostly the legal work to get her here the right way is turning out crazy expensive. We just gotta hang in there, I hate that saying but shit man, what else can we do but bust ass and and keep saving

It can be rough, but keep saving on that down (20% MINIMUM for a decent loan) and keep an even keel. We bought when FHA was handing out loans like candy and, although I love having a place I call mine, paying nearly $1000/mo on a $160k note is painful

They're always in the back of my mind. It never leaves the top 5 for my next car.

Degradation of the middle class, I feel most of us are in the same boat. Hard honest work doesn't go as far as it used to and if you went to school, well, we all know you're now burdened with what would be a nice mortgage payment. That wasn't much of a help was it, fuck it have some punk rock.

How old are you guys? Only thing I can say is hang in there. There are a LOT of benefits to renting. There are times when owning a home sucks, and I've only had new construction. Just try and save smartly and you'll get there.

I'm 24 and she's 22. It just sucks because I'm working a full time office job, and we still can't afford to upgrade our life because my paycheck is not comparable to the economy for the area where we live. I mean it'll be there in a year or two, but right now, even if we had the down payment, we literally couldn't even sustain our own place on a monthly basis.

Yep, I remember those days! Post college, I started working in DC for $26K/year, which these days would mean I would be homeless. In 1999, with a couple of roommates, it wasn't that bad. I even had beer money. I definitely wasn't saving for a house at that point though. You'll get there, just give it a few years.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. And because you know the area you definitely understand. I'm working in Reston for $35k/year, so it's a rough way to make a go of it.

Ah right, I forgot you were local! Did you go through undergrad already? Definitely required around DC these days.

Oh yeah, I've got a BS in Information Systems and Operations Management. And I still ended up in software sales...
